Wolverhampton’s Great War 1914-1921
The debut full length publication by the Wolverhampton Society is a 193 page recording of a city at war. Quintin Watt is in the editor’s chair and brings together work from local historians and authors. The book covers a vast array of topics, from personal stories such as “Grandad’s War”, through to the treatment of soldiers returning “from Flanders fields to Wolverhampton”.
The full list of contributors is as follows: Chris Twiggs, Heidi McIntosh, Mick Powis, Roy Stallard, Mark Cooper, John Hale, Jim Barrow, David Taylor, John Thomas, Richard Pursehouse, Ben Cunliffe and Beverley Reynolds. The book is preceded by a foreword by the “Godfather of War Studies”, Dr John Bourne.
